ADOBE ACROBAT HELP

MICROSOFT WORD HELP

General notes:

WHAT IS DOWNLOADING?
It is an electronic process of delivering a file or information to your computer .It is a direct method - that means it does not come through your e-mail system, but comes directly and immediately from the source (QuickBrochures) to you while you wait just a few minutes.

DOWNLOAD TIMES:
For those new to downloading, you may see a download time on your screen. This time is not usually the true download time. It is usually much shorter time than first appears on your screen. Download times will vary with the speed of your modem and the time of day you are downloading. Yes, there is a "Rush Hour" on the net and traffic slows down. If you are on DSL or ISN, the times will be very quick. When we created the brochure, we targeted it to be downloaded in reasonable time (usually 1 to 4 minutes) for 56k modem user during mid-day .

DOWNLOADING PROCEDURES
If you are new to downloading, we offer you an idea of what to expect and what to do during the procedure. Take it slow and easy, the computer will do all the work, you just need to watch where it is putting your files and take actions that will continue the process. After you have completed step one, if the brochure is contained in one file, the instructions and tips below apply.. If the brochure is in parts, you will be taken to step 2. Click to select the part of the brochure you want to download and then the instructions and tips below apply.

GETTING MULTIPLE PARTS
If the brochure you have selected is offered in multiple parts to minimize the download time. You can get multiple parts without "Signing in" again. Simply use your browser "BACK"button and make a new choice.

VIEWING ON YOUR SCREEN AND PRINTING
Your QuickBrochure will print clearly on your color or black and white printer. The image on your screen is primarily to give you an idea of the content in the brochure. Different monitors/screen setups will affect the visual images clarity in some cases, but not the printing.

MICROSOFT WORD HELP

This will come to you as a compressed file. Your computer will be "unzipping" the compressed file first. It is not a Word document until this procedure has been completed.

You must have Microsoft Word already on your computer for this to work.

NESTCAPE (V4.5) USER NOTES - Microsoft Word
Once the download begins, you will get a series of pop-up windows.

Popup screen shown below titled "Save As" appears: WATCH THE DIRECTORY you are saving to. You will need this information later.
Note the directory where this file is going and the complete file name.
Click, "Save"

In newer versions of Netscape, the usual automatic designated directory if you have downloaded before, may be the last place you put your download, or by default, it may be "My downloads"

This initially downloads as a compressed, self-extracting file (application). It really isn't a Word document yet.

Popup Box titled: "Saving location" appears: JUST WAIT until it is done.

Netscape users next step: Minimize or close YOUR BROWSER
(minimize it means click the square box in the upper right hand corner with a small line in it. It will be available to you again by clicking on your taskbar. It shows you open programs that you may click on to enlarge and activate again)

GO TO YOUR WINDOWS EXPLORER
(your directory Listing of all your files)

Find the directory and the file within it.
Double-click on the file name to open.
For PC users, the file will end in .exe if you are showing extensions.

  - (If you redirected this download to another directory, look
       in the directory you designated)

  - (If you are familiar with downloading, you may use any other
        procedure you normally use)

You will se a screen titled beginning "Zip Magic". Click "Next"

Your computer is asking you for a destination directory for the unzipped Microsoft Word file to go to. If you do not choose a specific file, it will automatically want to create a directory named QuickBrochures for you. That's fine. It is where you will find this brochure when you need it another time.

You will get an EXTRACTION COMPLETE screen.

Click "FINISH" and the Miocrosoft Word Document will open automatically.

NOTE: If you download more than one brochure, this process will overwrite the QuickBrochures directory each time. If you want to save these files for the future, copy or move them all to another directory.

WHERE DID MY FILE GO?
By following the procedures, you should be able to determine where it is. For PC users, it is most likely in C:\Quickbrochures, unless you previously downloaded to a different directory or changed the designated directory during download.

INTERNET EXPLORER AUTOMATIC PROCEDURE - Microsoft Word

Watch the screen to see what directory this compressed, self extracting file goes to. (or you can change the destination directory) This is not a Microsoft Word file yet.

Popup box shown above titled. "Download Complete" appears. When Explorer tells you it has completed the download, your choices are: OPEN, OPEN FILE, or CLOSE. Choose OPEN.

Popup box with the title beginning "Zip magic" appears. Your computer is preparing for the extracted file to go to a directory named QuickBrochures.
Click NEXT.

Click Next, unless you want to change the destination directory.

The popup screen titled "EXTRACTION COMPLETE"will appear.

Click "FINISH" and the Miocrosoft Word Document will open automatically.

NOTE:If you download more than one brochure, or brochure part, this process will overwrite the QuickBrochures directory each time. If you want to save these files for the future, copy or move them all to another directory.

WORD PERFECT users may download the Microsoft Word files. Follow the Microsoft Word procedure up to the point of opening the file in Microsoft Word. Instead, open your Word Perfect Program, then open/convert the Microsoft Word document located on your hard drive. The most current versions of Word Perfect are needed along with the conversion filters.

EXPERTS OPTIONS: If you are familiar with downloading, decompressing and opening files, you may use any method you prefer at this point. Using our method, upon completion of the self-extracting procedure, the document (.doc) file will be in the QuickBrochures directory on your C drive, or in any other directory you have designated.

You must have the Microsoft Word program to follow any of these procedures.
